Oasis – ‘Don’t Stop’ Demo review: Perfectly timed fate

Oasis are back! Well, not physically but they have released a new track. Well, not new. More a demo from their early years written by Noel Gallagher.

So really, Oasis have released a lost track from their archive.

Announced in a post across their social channels on Wednesday, it was stated that ‘Don’t Stop’ will be let loose across the world.

“There is only one version ‘out there’ from an Oasis soundcheck in Hong Kong about 15 years ago?”. Not sure whether he is asking us but treasure it.

What makes it great is Noel Gallagher admits this is a track that he believed to be lost. Oh Noel, how you treat us on occasions.

Getting onto the track and straight off the bat, we needed this.

The guitar from your classic Masterplan B-side with the rhythm guitar hitting the right notes throughout. A difference being the bongos in the background.

A bit of trivia here, have Oasis ever used Bongos in any of their records? *genuine question*

Vibes of ‘Half the World Away’, ‘Talk Tonight’ and ‘It’s Better People’ all resonate with this track.

You have the obvious repetitive themes of Noel present again: God, the sun, stars in the sky and life.
But what makes this great is the demo has perfect timing cemented into it.

Noel mentions fate and in these times with what is going on, this song echoes the message of staying positive.

“Don’t stop being happy. Don’t stop your clapping. Don’t stop your laughing.”

All traits you get from listening to the Mancunian duo who have that ability to make you smile, laugh and go mad for it.

We know the brotherly rivalry is still simmering, but this song brings back memories of their early days of touring. Spats and all, the Liam and Noel combination will live long in the memory.

This track helps us reminisce to better times and staying positive that this will all blow over.

We will ever see an Oasis reunion? It is uncertain, but they just answered our calls with a perfectly timed message which is beyond our expectations.

Who knows, maybe this demo could be the spark.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
